County Forest Trail Improvements – 2016 and 2017

In 2016 Grey County started a project to upgrade the County Forest portion of the Kolapore trail system. Their plans include improving the parking area adjacent to Grey Road 2, improving signage and upgrading the trails. These projects will support our objective to make the County Forest an area for “family friendly” biking in the summer, and an enjoyable area for easier skiing in the winter. As part of this work we will be shifting the eastern entrance to avoid some steeper slopes.

The project was started in Fall 2016, but was stopped because of wet weather conditions. The County will be doing some further work in 2017. After the County finishes their work, we will need Kolapore volunteers to help with “fine tuning” the trail improvement work. This is likely to occur during the summer and fall.

Trail Repair on Paradise Highway

In August 2015 Kolapore Trail volunteers spent four weekend mornings building a boardwalk to remedy a section of trail that had become a sea of mud.  In 2016 we continued to improve Paradise Highway by moving it out of several muddy areas. Further work is planned for 2017.

The Association pays the full cost of a portable toilet at the main Kolapore parking lot. We need your financial support if this is to continue. You can donate at the donation station beside the toilet, or use the online donation option on our Donate webpage.
